Translation Quality Tools
Several translation memory programs, including SDLX and the most recent release
of Trados include various tools to help perform various QA tests on bilingual
files, including checking the translated text against a glossary
of approved terminology, checking that no untranslated segments remain, etc.
Another option is to use third party tools that help perform various QA tests.
Here below are links to some tools we know of.
- QA Distiller™
- from Yamagata Europe (price: between €249 for the
freelance version and €1,000 for the professional one)
- Error Spy - from
D.O.G. GmbH (price: between €249 for the freelance
version and €490 for the standard one)
- BlackJack - from ITR (price: from $50 for a single-user license to $2000 for a to-user site license)
- XBench - from ApSIC
(price: free)
Although XBench is freeware, don't dismiss it our of hand: We have not yet
tested either QA Distiller or Error Spy, but we have found XBench to be very
useful on its own.
